Body Cleansing

Water

Drinking lots of water is one of the easiest ways to cleanse the body. How much should you drink?

Water consumption varies per person and per day. As a rough guideline, try drinking (in ounces) the number of pounds of your body weight divided by two.

e.g. 160/2 = 80 ounces, or 10 8oz. glasses of water

Remember that your hydration needs will vary depending on your activities, the climate, and numerous other factors. Always stay present with your body and listen to what it is asking for.

A few immediate benefits to drinking more water are: more energy, more regular bowel movements, and clearer and more supple skin. Drinking more water may also cut back on food intake as one of the first symptoms of dehydration is a hunger-like feeling.

The amounts suggested above are average daily consumption recommendations. For cleansing you can double this. When detoxing, the liver flushes stored toxins into the bloodstream and the urinary system is one of the key methods of eliminating these toxins. Insufficient water intake can lead to feeling sick.

So drink plenty of water!!!!

Herbal Cleansing

There are two areas to address when beginning a general cleanse: the first focuses on the cleansing of the colon, while the second targets the remaining channels of elimination--liver, blood, lymphatic system, skin, kidneys, and lungs. Whole body detoxification occurs when both areas are focused on. When the liver is overburdened with toxins, the load is passed on through blood and lymph circulation to other organs of elimination: colon, kidneys, lungs, and skin. It is therefore wise to begin a general cleanse that is designed to support all of these channels simultaneously, with special emphasis on the liver. General cleanse kits are easy to use and vary in length, intensity, and composition. When looking at whole body detox options, look for systems that will not only cleanse the body but will also support it during the process.

Hot and Cold Showers.

I love doing this one. It is simple daily cleansing that feels great. Initially, you may be in shock with what I am about to suggest but you will acclimate to this technique in a few days. Take your nice warm shower as usual. The warmth expands the blood vessels and moves the blood to the top of the skin. At the end of the shower turn off the hot water and spend a few moments in the cold shower. This constricts the vessels, causing the blood to retreat from the skin and taking the toxins with it.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a wonderful way to pamper yourself and detox on many levels. Simply taking the time for ourselves is healing and entrusting ourselves to the care of someone else also has a powerful impact on an emotional level. As the therapist works your muscles toxins that have been stored in your soft tissue are released and sent through the bloodstream and to the kidneys for excretion. Remember to drink a lot of water after a massage to flush out the released toxins so they do not settle back into your system.

High Colonic

Is the whole enema thing just too much to handle? Have a pro do it for you.

This procedure uses a machine to pump the water into your system and to extract the waste.

No mess...think of it as an internal day of beauty.
